Cyber Chip

On their own time, each of the Scouts in our troop has some homework to do as they work towards the "Scout Rank", their very first rank.

Homework #1 - Parent Safety Guide

In the front of your Scout's handbook, there is a booklet parent guide and you should review this immediately while getting started in the Troop.  It is one of the requirements for the Scout Rank, which is the very first rank they are working towards.

Homework #2 - Cyber Chip requirement – Internet Safety

For the Scout Rank and the Star Rank.... one requirement is:

“With your parent or guardian, complete the exercises in the pamphlet "How to Protect Your Children from Child Abuse: A Parents Guide" and earn the Cyber Chip Award for your grade.”

1.  The preventing abuse parent pamphlet is located at the front of the handbook, but the difficulty is the Cyber Chip requirements do not appear in the Handbook!!!!  Go figure! You must find them online. And, the requirements differ by grade.

2.  Below are the Cyber Chip requirements.  The videos and workbook is largely homework except the EDGE method, which is done in the troop setting at some point soon in a meeting.  The challenging Cyber Chip requirement is using the EDGE method. We will have the patrols plan what they will teach as a patrol at one meeting and then teach the other patrol at the following meeting.
